  • 00:00 Have you ever heard of alkaline water? You might have seen it at your local grocery store or heard about it from a friend.

So, what is alkaline water? Simply put, it is water with a higher pH than regular tap water. The range of the pH scale is from 0 to 14. 7 is neutral. Anything under 7 is acidic, and anything more than 7 is alkaline. Alkaline water typically has a pH level of 8 or 9, sometimes even higher, while tap water has a pH of around 7.

One of the main claims of alkaline water is that it can help neutralize the acid in your body, aiding in detoxification and improving hydration.
So, does it really help our body? Well, the answer isn’t clear-cut. While some studies suggest that it may have benefits, there needs to be more evidence to make any definitive claims.

Natural alkaline water may have some health benefits due to the minerals it contains. However, the same cannot be said for artificial alkaline water. It may cause adverse health effects such as decreased stomach acidity and mineral deficiencies. Artificially alkaline water has been processed to increase its pH level. It does not necessarily contain the same minerals as natural alkaline water.

Remember that our bodies naturally maintain a pH balance. Drinking alkaline water is not a substitute for a healthy diet and lifestyle. Maintaining a balanced diet and active lifestyle is the best way to stay healthy.
